Blog Problems Print E-mail
Monday, 17 March 2008

Well, the hosting company upgraded their platform which caused some funny stuff in the way the site works now. There is sometimes an annoying menu floating over pictures if you click on a gallery.

Also the blog feature doesnt let me post any pictures, so I guess I will put any new stuff, including photos in the news section. Hope I can get this sorted out soon....

Lamma for lunch Print E-mail
Wednesday, 05 March 2008

My parents were in town for a few days (they are visiting Taiwan and going to vote in the presidential elections soon).  So for the maiden voyage of the 29z, we all went out to lunch on Lamma Island.  The weather was nice, but it was pretty windy yesterday.  But it was the wakes from big commercial boats in Lamma Channel that were most daunting.

The 29z seemed to handle the wakes pretty well.  It certainly is a bigger boat than I am used - we had 7 people on board and still plenty of room!

Fuel Efficient Print E-mail
Tuesday, 11 December 2007

We had a lot of people come by at the Marina Cove boat show and ask how a "Lobster Boat" can go fast - they were referring to the picture of the 29z on the poster we had at our booth.

The answer is, this is no ordinary "Lobster Boat." The classic lines apply only from the waterline up! The hull is light and strong due to its high tech construction. The running surfaces are efficient and easily driven, and combine a sharp entry for soft ride, with a large planing running surface at the rear of the hull.

By popular demand, data on the fuel efficiency of these boats have been added to the introduction sections (found on the 2nd page).

Round the Island Race Print E-mail
Tuesday, 20 November 2007

More sailing on the J/80 - A totally different bunch of HK sailors took the boat out and we placed 2nd in the sport boat class in this past sunday's Loro Piana Around the Island race.

As usual, there were some frustrating sections in the harbor where there was no wind. But then again, around the back side near cape D'aguilar, we mananged to surf with the big kite up at about 14 knots boat speed! Fun little boat!

Asia Sport Boat Champs Print E-mail
Saturday, 17 November 2007

What a better way to kick off my new web site and career selling powerboats than to go... sailing!

Jeff Johnstone, president of J/Boats and Jeff Brown of JK3 and J/Boats Asia were in town to campaign 2 brand new J/80's in the Asia International Sport Boat Champs. I got to sail with Jeff J. for the week and we ended up winning the regatta with a novice crew of Hong Kongers who had never sailed with each other! Jeff Brown came in 2nd for a 1-2 J/Boats sweep.

I am hoping to get a few pictures from the official photographers to post here soon!

BTW, these winning boats are now for sale with a full set of UK sails designed by Kerry Klinger... who just won his second consecutive J/80 North American Champs.
